Hi Jenni In this sense it probably means that the business of "J Hanson Chimney Sweep" was late the business of "Kirkham Chimney Sweep" and he has taken it over (bought it) along with the goodwill and regular customers, and just wants everybody to know that fact. We have an instance here in Ledbury today where one of the estate agents calls the business "X's Estate Agents Late Y's" where X is his surname and Y is that of the previous owner.
