    3. Hi Cassy I've only just caught up on this thread, because I've been away on holiday. The school was indeed Tabernacle School, but it was in Talbot Street. The pub nearby was the Old Talbot. I remember the area before it was redeveloped as the Savacentre as, as a child, I used to go shopping in Oldbury with my Great Aunt, who would always point out the various streets to me as part of teaching me about my family (my great great grandfather/mother had lived in both Talbot and Tabernacle Street in the 1870 and 1880s). As I understand it, the school took pupils from 5-14. You should find more interesting stuff in the book Old Time Oldbury, which was published quite a few years ago now (I have an original copy), but through the joys of the internet is now available online. Try this link http://historyofoldbury.co.uk/Oldtime%20Oldbury.pdf In the late 1920s my mom lived at 4 Stone Street with my great gransfather/mother and a few of her aunts. I'm afraid I don't have any photos of Stone Street at that time, but if you find any, then I'd love to see them (as would my mom!).
