Hi All Been doing some family research on my Franklins from Oldbury Got a couple of questions can anyone answer them My Gr Uncle Henry Thompson died in 1931 (he married Bertha Franklin ) According to what my cousin was told he was put in a very large paupers grave at Roodend with other paupers , can some one tell me if this is true ? Underneath is am email I also got off my cousin after she phoned up Sandwell to try and find out where our Moses was buried in 1892 . I made a call from work re Moses and his burial place. Are you ready for a shock???? Moses John Franklin is buried in Rood End cemetery plot number C2331. There has never been a headstone the shock is he isn't alone there. Moses is buried with a little girl called Agnes Jones who was 2 and a half when she died. Get this I thought has they were poor they shared a grave with a local resident. WRONG - Agnes died in March 1874 who the hell was she???? Well I have looked on the West Midland Site and I can not find a birth in that time frame for someone born at Oldbury but found one at Harborne , has far has I know none of my Franklins has any connection with the surname Jones Can anyone help Cheers Cassy Assistant Admin Black Country Potteries, and Wolverhampton Lists

Secondly, sometimes if people were poor and couldn't afford a grave then a grave was reused, and it may be that this was the case. Do you have your Moses's death cert? It's possible that he lived alone and had no traceable relatives, and so was buried in a plot which hadn't been used for some time. No need for a connection. Thanks to everyone who replied to this email Still have not found out if there is a large paupers grave at Roodend , but I think I have found out who the little girl was my Moses Franklin was buried with , My Gr Uncle Albert Whitehouse married a widow named Fanny Jones and we believe Agnes Jones was her daughter so this is why Moses was put him with him Cheers Cassy Assistant Admin Black Country Potteries, and Wolverhampton Lists ----- Original Message ----- From: "cassy" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, September 17, 2009 8:29 PM Subject: [Black Country] ROODEND GRAVES > Hi All > Been doing some family research on my Franklins from Oldbury > Got a couple of questions can anyone answer them > My Gr Uncle Henry Thompson died in 1931 (he married Bertha Franklin ) > According to what my cousin was told he was put in a very large paupers > grave at Roodend with other paupers , can some one tell me if this is > true > ? > Underneath is am email I also got off my cousin after she phoned up > Sandwell to try and > find out where our Moses was buried in 1892 > > .
