There is no 1890 U.S. census available, but I've checked the 1900.? There are about two dozen James Gordons born in Massachusetts in that year or one away from that year.? Fortunately, the 1900 census asked people to name the month of their birth.? There was only one born in October.? He is one of six Gordon children living with George and Alice Pettit, and listed as their children.? The youngest Gordon is 5, and then a Pettit child is 2.? I assume the mother brought these children into her marriage to George Pettit.? The family was living in New Jersey.? Could this be the family you are seeking?? I can send you the image off list.? We do have the 1910, 1920, and 1930 available.? Please let me know if this is the right fellow and I will pursue him as far as I can. Cheers,?
