Hello Peter, Thank you so much for replying to my query about BAILEYs of West Bromwich. I did have the details you so kindly sent me and in fact it might have been you that supplied them way back in 2005, but from a different e-mail address. If it was you maybe it will jog your memory that we also exchanged photographs. As you can appreciate I have not progressed much over the last five years! Referring to the school details of Christopher BAILEY, spanning the years 1926 to 1931, they state his father Thomas BAILEY was deceased and this was not the case, as he died in 1963 at an old people's home - Greenside House, Greenside Way, Yew Tree Estate, West Bromwich. There had been an acrimonious separation between Thomas and his wife Nellie, which might account for her stating he had died. Nellie was still running the wet fish shop in St. Michael's Street in the 1950s. Several of the BAILEY family were Poulterers and they came to West Bromwich through association with the BELCHER and later the WHITMORE families.
