    1. Re: [Black Country] Paying in pounds from the U.S.
    2. Thank you to David for the link to the company that will serve as an English cousin and file for it. What a good idea they have. However, our Black Country family has come through again, and I've been contacted off list by a very kind person who can help. They have offered to do it for free, but I know Amazon gift cards can be sent to email addresses, so I will have a chance to show my appreciation. This is a fabulous List! I do have a cousin in the Cotswolds, but she works for a rather posh travel agency and is always off globe trotting. Yes, we should have gone to Canada, but it just wasn't working. One relative tried that and got shipwrecked off the coast of Nova Scotia. He ended up working as a cowboy in Texas! My grandmother came from the B.C.to Oklahoma Territory (not yet a state) in 1906, and never quite recovered. She said she knew America didn't have hundreds of years of civilization behind it, but she did hope I would not grow up booing at football games. (I politely cheer my team, and applaud especially good plays by the other team.) On my father's side I'm afraid a good dozen of them were in that bunch of malcontents who went sailing off on the Mayflower and weren't sure where they landed. But at least I'm close to Canada! Big Thanks to All, Lois -----Original Message----- From: Paul Smith <mowbray@dal.ca> To: eng-black-country <eng-black-country@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tue, Nov 22, 2011 7:29 am Subject: Re: [Black Country] Paying in pounds from the U.S. OK. Do you have relatives in the UK? It might be possible to enlist their aid. E.g. they accept a Western Union transfer in US dollars. It is then converted into pounds. And on your behalf they then place the order for the will. If you don't have rellies we do have excellent listers who I am sure would be more than happy to help out. I had a somewhat similar experience many years ago when I contacted a genealogist on the Birmingham List who was coming to Nova Scotia. She was gracious enough to buy the will copy, brought it over.....and Bob's your uncle. I would hate to see you have to travel to Canada just to do something that should be oh so simple. Problem in the US is that their banking system isn't exactly the most sophisticated in the world. You should have emigrated to Canada <LOL!!!!!!>.
