    1. [Black Country] TIBBETTS and BURLEY in Rowley Regis
    2. Rob Griffin
    3. Hi Listers Can someone please help with information concerning the above families who seem to have a very close relationship and/or inter-marriage during the 18th & 19th centuries. I believe that the TIBBETTS (various spellings) were connected to early Methodism, especially re Graingers Lane Methodist Church. I have also learned that both BURLEY and TIBBETTS were land owners during the late 1700s, but my research so far only shows BURLEYs as Nailers or Labourers. Some of my ancestors were also listed in various census as living at "Tibbots Gardens, Cradley Heath", does this have some reference to the family name and why the road/area was so described? 3. I have little direct data on this except to confirm that the Tibbetts and the Grosvenors were close family friends and referred to often in the Graingers Lane context. When the Graingers Lane Chapel was demolished my Mother's cousin Hartley Shaw (Shaw's Mineral Waters), obtained a plaque from the rubble enscribed " Sacred to the Memory of the Late Mr Joseph Grosvenor who died May 8th 1916 and Sarah his wife who died January 11th 1918 etc etc..." These were my maternal ggf and ggm. As a War time child I quaked under the passionate tongue and roar of one Mr Grimes at said Chapel !
