Maurice, Geoff, I've looked on an 1884 map of the area in more detail and I still think "Utel" is "Howtel" due to the close proximity to the adjacent properties named on the census sheet before and after the page you described. It is still marked on the my 1999 OS map of the area and I can see it as a farm on Google Maps satellite view. The Hall is not named in the enumerator's instruction sheets for their route but the instructed routes for 1871,1881 and 1891 take them past the place. I used to live about 6 miles south of Alveley in North Kidderminster and would have cycled through those lanes, probably last time was in 1965! I recall the area but not the Hall. ( I now live 360 miles away in Scotland so can't pop over.)
