    3. Hi Peter, I think you will find that Richard Siviter (1747-1817) who committed suicide by hanging himself was the son of Daniel S. and Susannah Bissell. Richard was married (I believe, but I don't have details) to Hannah Burton and they had three children that I know of: Mary, William and Elizabeth. He was a farmer of Turners Hill, according to his will (Worcester record office). Richard was my 5 x great uncle, or to put it another way, his parents were my 6 x great grandparents and his sister Elizabeth and her husband William Attwood were my 5 x great grandparents. I hope this helps. Presumably there would have been an inquest - would I be correct in assuming that RR falls/fell within the jurisdiction of the Walsall Coroner? Does anyone know whether Coroners Reports survive for this period and if so where they can be accessed please? Also what is the best newspaper to search for a report of any inquest which was held and where that search is best done. Am also keen to find out exactly which Richard Sivitor took his own life. Any help gratefully received Peter Knott

    3. Hello Nigel Apologies for the delay in reply. I have been going over all my facts again before responding. Yes - I have the Richard Siviter and Hannah Burton marriage which took place in 1773. I am a descendant of their daur Mary who married Joram Willetts. I make it that Richard & Hannah are my fourth great grandparents and that you and I must be distant cousins. I think that in addition to the three children which you mentioned there was a fourth named Hannah and I imagine that the will which you mentioned proves that the RS who took his own life was the husband of Hannah (senior) and father of the four children. However there was another RS baptised at Rowley in 1747 (with parents John & Elizabeth) and indeed yet another baptised in 1740 having parents Benjamin & Jane. I had thought that earlier I had found relevant marriages for all three Richards and therefore they all survived childhood but now on looking again I am able to find only two (one to our Hannah Burton and the other to Judith Parsons). On the other hand I can find no burial record for a young Richard. Earlier I had tried to determine which Richard went on to marry Hannah B and later to commit suicide, but had given up. Probably the 1740 one can be discounted being too early for someone who married in 1773 but it seems that two possible 1747 candidates remain and there is no apparent clue from names given to any of the children. Is there any firm evidence that our Richard was the son of Daniel? Am I missing something? Anyway thank you cousin for your assistance. Your information about the existence of a Richard will is particularly helpful. 3. Hello cousin Peter, I don't think I can add very much more. I came across the Siviters whilst researching my Attwoods. I do know Siviters Lane well in Rowley village and I know Turners Hill - as a child in Cradley I used to listen to the blasting at the quarry at night. Most of my information on the Siviters is the research of a Howard Siviter whom I have had no contact with for many years. I do, that is, he does, have a record of the other 1747 Richard, baptised 24 March, son of John Siviter and Elizabeth Gilberts, nothing more on him. He also has the 1740 Richard baptised 23 November 1740, married Judith Parsons 7 September 1760, 8 children: William, Rachel, Hannah, Thomas, Joseph (m. Isabella Hartland), Samuel, Ann and Manuel. I have not verified any of this information from other sources. I hope this helps. Best wishes, Nigel (now in exile from the Black Country living in Wolverhampton) -----Original Message----- From: Peter Knott Sent: 07 July 2011 9:25 AM To: eng-black-country@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [Black Country] Richard SIVITER of Rowley Regis Hello Nigel Apologies for the delay in reply.
