Hi everyone - am new to the list and wondered if someone could point me to an explanation of boundary changes that affect Dudley - it is listed as being in both Worcestershire and Staffordshire. My husband grew up there and says it was always Worcestershire until boundary changes to West Midlands - a good map would be ideal. Any help gratefully received Lesley Name interests: BUNN - John 1826 m Hannah Hill GRIFFITHS of Rowley Regis ROBINSON - William 1826 m Ann Maria Wiliams OAKLEY CLEMSON MANSELL

Within the parish Dudley Castle and Priory were declared to be in Staffordshire as a result of a papal decree in 1238. Dudley county borough briefly became a part of Staffordshire as a result of local government reorganisation in 1966 until 1974 when it became a part of the new county of West Midlands. Parish records are deposited at Dudley Archives and the parish is listed under Worcestershire in the IGI.
