    1. Re: [Black Country] 1881 Census Look up please
    2. Geoff Allen
    3. Many thanks to everyone who took the time to respond to my earlier request, especially Velda who forwarded me a copy of the actual census return (which confirms the address as Ulet Hall). Apologies for the delay in replying, but I've been a little busy with other things. Whilst I recognise that "Howlett" and "Ulet" are phonetically similar, I do not believe they are the same place. My reasoning for this: 1. the 1881 census only lists 2 occupants of Ulet Hall, a farmer and his wife. I believe Howlett Hall is much bigger and would therefore have more residents; 2. my relatives were not rich and therefore could not have afforded such a large property and 3. whilst it is in the same area, they are still in the scale of things some distance apart. I've tried looking on old maps, but cannot find any reference. Have spent some time recently in the Alveley area and managed to solve other puzzles, this one will have to wait a bit longer until I can look at other records.
