Hi All Hope you all had a good Christmas. I would appreciate your help with a small puzzle I’m trying to resolve - not from inside a cracker but from the back of a 1931-32 silver medal... The medal was awarded to James Walker of the Barrel Inn in Canal St Tipton. The face of the medal has two rifles and a target so it’s obviously from a shooting competition, probably between different local pubs. On the reverse of the medal is the acronym – T.C.D.A.G.L. Does anyone know what this means? Our best guess so far is “Tipton and Coseley District Amateur Gun League” but that is just a guess so any informed alternatives would be welcome. many thanks Trevor Flavell
I am sure you must have done this and if not someone would have suggested it, but have you checked newspaper archives for the story? It might give details. Seasons greetings to you all. Lots of earthquakes here in amongst beautiful weather. Had some big earthquakes again in the last few days, a magnitude 6 and few 5s and lots of 4 and 3s. Not good, but we are getting used to them now. I wish you all lots of good will and smiles. Jan (quaky Christchurch, NZ)
Lovely to have you back, Dave. Happy New Year when it comes and yes, lets get the Black Country in lights once again. Just like old times. Cheers, Yorkie

Hopefully 2012 will be a better year and I will be around much more often (I have read all your emails over the past year <G>). It's about time that we started off our Black Country stories again, it's been so long since we had a few to chew over and natter about. It's also time that we sought to break down a few Brick Walls (names in subject if you can). Over to you lot, I'll warn you, if none are forthcoming, I'll start to drone on with mine again, and blimey, a few are very boring, remember Kunzle Cakes?! Have a Great Time Dave 8-) Wednesbury The Black Country England Listowner: Black Country, Staffordshire, Wolverhampton, Ironbridge, The Potteries Leek etc., etc.,
Hi all Wishing you all near and far a very happy Christmas and prosperous New Year and thinking of all those who are no longer with us. May we all break down a few more brick walls in the coming new year. Janet Griffiths
