Hi Bob, I went through a company called FamilyTreeDNA. Their web-site is http://www.familytreedna.com/ Not only do they do DNA analysis, but also have surname projects & matching to a world-wide database. You can contact me off-list if you want more details. Regards from Malcolm. Member of Grigg DNA Project http://grigg.mygenerations.org/
Hi Knola, These are the only records I could find: Staffordshire: Sedgley - Registers of Marriages, 1781-1831 Marriages 1788 County: Staffordshire Country: England Obadiah Aston & Hannah Langson, 03 Nov 1788 BDM Indexes: Name Year Quarter Record Type District County ASSON, Obadiah 1842 March Deaths Dudley Staffordshire Worcestershire ASSON, Obadiah 1845 March Deaths Dudley Staffordshire Worcestershire Wolverhampton St Peter: marriages 1538-1838 Potts Frances w 4 Jun 1805 Obadiah Aston w B Joseph Carless/Joseph Wainwright Regards from Malcolm.
Dear listers, I wonder if someone can help me with my elusive Obadiah Asson (or could be Aston, but probably the former). I'm reasonably sure that he was born in or near Tipton in 1801 - ish. His baptism doesn't appear in the parish records for Tipton church, but there's a high chance that he was non-conformist. All the chapel records on the IGI don't go as far back as 1801, and I'm not sure what the alternatives are. The chapels on the IGI don't have a film number. By 1841 Obadiah was married (in Tipton) and living in Darby End, and in 1845 he died, but of course no place of birth. I'd be so grateful if anyone can find him, or even point me in the right direction. Knola New Zealand
Hi Vera, John and Hannah are my Gt Gt Gt Grandparents, I have all the tree if you would like a copy. All best wishes from Linda.
Hello Vera, May I join in? -----Original Message-----I have found a christening for a Hannah Worton in Cradley: Sep 28, 1823, Cradley. Parents: John Worton & Hannah. I believe her parents are: John Worton (1792) & Hannah Siddaway, married Feb 25, 1808, Old Swinford but I only show 2 children at this time, both born Old Swinford: John, c. Sep 25, 1814; Charles, c. Apr 6, 1817----- I have a record of a Hannah Worton, born 1823 daughter of John and Hannah Worton, but I wonder if they are same family because I have John born in 1796, estimated from the 1851 census age, where they were living down at Ash Bank. Also I have him married to Hannah Southall on 18 October 1818. A marriage for John at 16 years if age seems a bit young to me, but possible of course (and I might add, the marriage record I am relying has him 26 years old, which is a bit old!). I have John and Hannah with seven children as far as I aware: Elizabeth, Joseph, Hannah, John, Sophia, Phebe and Charles. I think daughter Hannah married Thomas Deeley. Do you have census sightings for your John and Hannah? The Cradley Wortons are a bit of a nightmare to work out and anything you can add to past debates and research would be welcome. My 5 x great grandparents were Richard Bennett and Alice nee Worton, plus I have three Worton/Raybould marriages including Sarah Ann to my great grandfather John Raybould's brother, Alfred. All in Cradley. Nigel Brown ENG-WOR-CRADLEY-L@rootsweb.com

Same company name. Why would he have the same as a known fraudster? Sharon --- Malcolm Platt-Grigg <mplatt2@bigpond.com> wrote: > I recall William from Research-UK mentioning this > mob. I'm not sure I understand that. What was the charge of fraud, and the investigation by the Sussex police all about? This was well discussed on many of the rootslists for some time. Okay, looking through archives brings it up. Research UK was investigated by the Sussex police for fraud. Looks like they're pulled the plug on them. Hi Listers, I wonder if someone can help me confirm what is currently a guess. My gt4 Grandfather John Sadler a publican had built a couple of houses in Sheep Fair including one known as the White Lion. I can't trace the pub now and wonder if it has been renamed "The Vines". Any help much appreciated. For anyone interested he also ran the "White Hart" in Caldmore and "The Pear Tree" in Wednesfield...a regular entrepreneur by the looks of it! TIA Nick
Hi Lynda Would love to have it. I will assign PL to your file so that I know who sent it on to me. I have a couple of other researchers you may already know about: David Meredith Helen Ashby I also stated in my email that Sarah Worton was my husband's grandfather. That should be grandmother. She and her husband, Thomas Baggott came to Canada around 1903-1904. This is based the birth of their 5th child, Lucy, born Oct 9, 1904. Thomas and Sarah had 13 children. I would be willing to send you what I have back to John Warton, 1610 as well. Hi Knola & Listers May I answer your question with another question? I think we all hit brickwalls fairly regularly, right?
