Hi Mellie, Please put my message in your FEREDAY box too. I have a Sarah FEREDAY, b.1793, Tipton, whose parents and sibs I can't find. She married Samuel BAGGOTT in 1812 and died in 1866, Hateley Heath, West Bromwich district. So on FEREDAY Day, please keep a lookout for my Sarah. She was a trooper - had ten kids. Cheers, Lois
Many thanks for letting me know Paul. I suspected it was but wasn't completely sure. Thanks also for getting back to me about Titford Road. Have had no joy with anyone having access to the 1841 for Langley and Oldbury, so will have to try and get down to Smethwick Archives at some stage to look them up there. Did have a look on a website called Originsnetwork which has transcribed the 1841 census but it doesn't look like Shropshire is on there yet. If SKS does have access to the 1841 census for Oldbury and Langley I would be most grateful if they could get in touch, Many thanks Gay Smallwood
Thanks, Cassie, looks like I will be working the fingers to the bone with clicking!! Rob.

Hi, I have just started having problems with familysearch. At present I am trawling through all the Percivals listed on IGI by just entering the surname and region (British isles) . After I have selected a name to look at, when I click back to the main list it just comes up 'Page Expired' and I cannot return to the main list. Twice today I have gone through over 5,000 names, only to have to return to the beginning to start all over again. As you can imagine, this quickly becomes very frustrating!! Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong? Have never had any problem like this in the past. HELP!! Rob of Portsmouth
Gay: Most of the parish of Halesowen (which included Oldbury, Langley and Warley) was, amazingly, in Shropshire in 1841. Several small pieces of the parish were in Worcestershire, but not many people lived in them. Things were sorted out in 1844, when it all became Worcestershire. Hi Paul, I don't think Misers Row could have been all that poor, as next door but one to my ancestor they had a house servant, and my Absolam Walker is stated as a coal miner employing 25 men. That must have been a first for our family, they were all labourers or miners of either slate or coal, not even an ag lab amongst them. Doreen
at this time, I dont have either a Ricard or a rebecca Fereday listed, on saying that, I haven't "come forward" with the line, my first connection in to fereday is a 4th great grandmother (nancy) b abt 1805, so the ones I have are from her back, Wanda would have much more on them its a direct line for her, there seemed to be a few of them and all in the same area, I am sure a few weeks trawling the p[arish records would reveal some connections though. As I dont have time to think (ok i so idont do that at any time!) some days, I might see what the IGI has thrown together, have a "fereday day" if you see what I mean, thats about how I do things at the moment, on every other weekend that I am not on call, I think I will have a "genie" day! Pick a name and run with it is pretty much how i do things anyway LOL I have printed off the email though and put it in the fereday box! hell thats a start!! Could someone please advise me which county Oldbury,Langley and the area around Warley Woods came under in the 1841 census. Many thanks Gay Smallwood
(With) a grain of salt is a literal translation of a _Latin_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin) phrase, (cum) grano salis. A pinch of salt may also be told ya someone would know! LOL it seems I got the general gist in a much shorter version LOL Mellie How Come My Coat Of Arms Has Buckles At The Back?
Hi there, I think at my age I prefer to be cynical, Scepticism is only for the young and romantic enthusiast. Being Sceptical is a wonderrful ideal. Unfortunately in this world the ability to be sceptical declines with experience. Ted hey Ted, you cant keep cynicism for the older generation LOL lifes experiences seem to select our level of synicism LOL Mellie How Come My Coat Of Arms Has Buckles At The Back?

Morning all, I think Mellie's idea of trivia is great. As a starter. I often use the expression. "I would take that with a pinch of salt" that's because I am a cynical old B***** and have doubts about the truth of what I am being told. But why A pinch of salt? Has anyone got any ideas please.?Ted buddy heck ted its a bit early for thinkin ay it? me wundas is it cus a "pinch a salt" adds flava? therefore taking what someone says "with a pich of salt" could be that they have "flavoured" what they are saying? thinking of flavoured as embellished? sum1 is gonna know this for definate! Hi Dave I think the Wheway you're on about is one of "my" Wheway's, in that my Wheways originate from Birmingham. in fact all Wheways are related, being descended from John Wheewau who lived in Nuneaton in the 1600s, and was exiled following the siege of Antwerp!
