    3. Thanks for the replies . Cheese dealer is a possibility. Dictionary contains 'chessel' which apparently is a mould used in cheesemaking. It also has 'chess' - a flooring plank of a pontoon-bridge. Full transcript said 1821 Dec 9 Emma d. of Francis KIDSON Labr. & Chessadellah of Castle Moor, Parish of Holgate. Never knew there had been a castle in Holgate Shrops until I googled it! Gaye

    3. Friends I have in my Tree - several females named FANNY, from those who were baptised Fanny, to those for whom it was a nickname - e.g. HANNAH, ANNA, Anne. I have one in fact who was in 1868 Registered and Baptised as Hannah - on Census and married as Anne, and for the Births/Baptisms of all her children, later Census and her Death Cert ,was listed as FANNY !! Have never located her Mother's baptism know the surname, but forename given on Census is Fanny and cannot locate any likely candidate. I have found other names, that were derivatives/ nicknames , being used as a forename from c 1880 on. hth Helen New Zealand -----Original Message----- From: MomNat@aol.com [mailto:MomNat@aol.com] Sent: Tuesday, 14 March 2006 1:05 p.m. To: ENG-BLACK-COUNTRY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Fanny Fanny is Fanny, common name in my family, was almost my name.
