Hello Linda, Could this be what you are looking for. Regards, Keith. http://search.msn.co.uk/results.aspx?srch=105&FORM=AS5&q=METHODIST+CHURCH++KING+STREET+DUDLEY
Does anyone know if The Methodist Church is still standing in King Street Dudley? Thanks I just found out that some of my family married there. All best wishes from Linda.
Nice idea Yorkie but Ancestry has a few entries for RAWLATT in the Leamington & Coventry area from the 1881 census and there's a few in the Northants & Leics area in 1861- maybe it's a maiden name? Jo You will find photographs of the Chapel in both its original (pre 1894) and later form (I think, although I couldn't find it just now) on http://www.aclickintime.co.uk/about.html as well as other photographs of old Walsall. Don't know if the Chapel is still there. The only major fair held in the BC is on 9th April at Dunstall Racecourse. Wolverhampton, 10 - 5. Free car parking and a cafe onsite, even a bar if you fancy a pint. The organiser is thinking of dropping this fair from the circuit because over ther last 2 years attendance by the public has dropped so use it or loose it. There's still a full compliment of stall holders and F.H.S.'s attending. Stalls will be there selling, Books, Postcards, Maps, CD's, Census, Microfiche, Charts, Storage Items, to name but a few, F.H.S's and the Records Office will also be there for help & look ups etc. including the S.O.G. not only will their bookstall be there but also the S.O.G computer help team manned by famous names like John Hanson and Jean Bunting. They will help you with any look ups you care to name as they have full online access to all known databases. Just about everything you can think of to do with Family History will be represented. We have some half price entry tickets available, they will get you in for £1 instead of £2. A maximum of 5 per person please. Send a stamped S.A.E. with a note to say how many you want to us at. Hi list Does anyone know please if Gamekeepers were self employed (like journeymen) or always worked for "the big house" or more likely to be up market names for poachers ? I am tracking the" Game Keeper " Henry Parker who lived at Little Huncote, Thurlaston in 1881 and am curious about the occupation. Apart from my mother hiding "Lady Chatterleys Lover" in her knitting bag, I have not encountered them before !! Clues appreciated Thanks Jilly
Linda, If I remember correctly the Methodist church is opposite to the entrance to Trinity road. The opposite end to St James's. It is near the united reformed church. I think it is quite new ( Built it the last 40 years). I may be wrong so some now staying in the area may be able to check. I have just found that my g g g g grandfather was a Chelsea Pensioner and his middle name was RAWLAT. I am just wondering if his father had also been a soldier and he had christened his son after a battle. Does anyone recognise the name at all. I have done a search and come up with a suspicious map and website on the net, which I haven't entered. Just wondered if anyone on the list has heard the name before. Yorkie
Hi, I am new to this list and am researching the following names: Clark (most are brush makers/manufacturers) Tharp - in particular Dorothy Tharp (plush saddle cloth maker) and Elizabeth Tharp (Dressmaker). Elizabeth is married to David Clark (brush maker) David is son of Job Clark - as yet no info on him. Flavell Carter All are from the Walsall area. I would love to hear from anyone researching the same. Also, could anyone kindly tell me if The Independent Chapel in Bridge Street is still there? and if there is anywhere I can look at photos of Walsall Foreign area? Many thanks. Very many thanks to everyone who helped on this problem. 'Labourer in gardens' it will be. I am delighted, as I like a bit of gardening myself. Best wishes to all. Vic Kent, UK
Hi Vic, I agree with everybody else. Looks like labourer at gardens Wolfie who read that for ya? ROTFLMFAO Mellie How Come My Coat Of Arms Has Buckles At The Back?
Hi there, Vic, It looks like, "LABOURER AT GARDEN" to me or, "LABOURS AT GARDEN". Middle ROw was next to Charles Street Wolverhampton (St Mary's parish) but I do not think that exists now either. Try this website for an old map, including Middle Row: http://www.wolverhamptonarchives.dial.pipex.com/gen_map_eg.htm Louise ----- Original Message ----- From: <VAGarvey@aol.com> To: <ENG-BLACK-COUNTRY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, March 20, 2006 6:04 PM Subject: [B.C.] 1851 Staffs Census-Help please > Hi All, > > I wonder if SKS could help me with an illegible census record?
