I never tried syrup sandwiches or sugar and apple. However, we regularly had rhubarb dipped in sugar. In the Baptism Register of St Pauls Church, Walsall is an entry that must be the dread of all family history researchers. It read ....... "Birthdate unknown - foundling" baptised 3 Sept 1891 Ada HAYWARD d/o Robert & Mary Ann (shoemaker) 47 New Street. I wonder what the story is there? I don't think I have come across Robert & MaryAnn before. Regards Pat.
Wolverhampton City Council is trying to close and demolish two buildings which many people consider to have significant historical interest. Daisy Bank Community Centre (Formerly a School) and Innisfallen House in King Street, Both in Bradley. A campaign has been launched via the Bilstononline website http://www.bilstononline.co.uk to try and save these buildings. If any of you are interested please vote. Going to the referenced link, all it says about the 1841 census is as follows: "Records Coming Soon The Complete England & Wales Census Collection This summer, you'll be able to search 16 million names and 40,000 authentic images in the new 1841 England & Wales Census. This will make Ancestry.com the exclusive online resource for all publicly available England & Wales Census records between 1841 and 1901. " No obvious way of accessing it now.
