I know that in WW1 men came back to the UK to enlist in the army here and returned to their new country afterwards, so perhaps the same happened in WW2. There are Woottons in the 1901 census in Croughton so perhaps he was related to them and that is why he is on the memorial & in the Canadian war tributes.
