Greetings. Those people with popular names like Brown, Smith and Green appear to have a difficult time tracing their family, because of the large number of people with the same name. Conversely those people with unusual names are fewer in number and are, supposedly, easier to trace. That is until one considers the variants. I have been looking at Torshell names in Banbury and Wardington. Can anyone help with a few variants on the spelling, please? Where would they have originated? I have Joseph Wise (wid) marrying CatherineTorshell (sp) of Wardington at Banbury 23 Oct 1757. I have her siblings baptised in Banbury; children of William, the father, a baker. I have nothing from Wardington. I know nothing of the variants. I know nothing about their origins. Anyone able to help, please. www.members.westnet.com.au/banbury Rod Wise
