A few years ago I was involved in transcribing Adderbury Parish registers and I too was puzzled about the mortury fees. Thinking about it since reading your email I was wondering if may be I had found a solution. In most homes when someone died they were laid out in state in a spare room and neighbours came to pay their respects. But if there was not the room or for some reason this was not possible the body would have to be removed to the mortuary. Just a thought best wishes Rhoda
