Grimsbury is part of Banbury now, I believe it was a seperate village beyond the river Cherwell at one time maybe in Northamptonshire as the river is the couty boundary in most parts. Middleton road is still there, maybe number 44, and is the main road out from the town centre to Grimsbury. Wark worth is a village beyond Overthorpe. Hi Grimsbury is now part of Banbury and is the area east of the river, canal and railway station. At one time it was in Northants and was included with Warkworth & Overthorpe for census purposes. Warkworth & Overthorpe are hamlets next door to each over and near Middleton Cheney. All are still in Northants. Middleton Road was the main road from Banbury town centre to Middleton Cheney & Brackley until the M40 was built. Middleton Road is mainly residential and nearly all original buildings. Hope this helps Norina >From: Rosemary Probert <[email protected]> >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: [BAN] NEW GRIMSBURY WARKWORTH help with location please >Date: Wed, 13 Jun 2007 08:49:15 +0100 > >/Posted on behalf of [email protected] > >Does any one know of this place/ >/NEW GRIMSBURY?/ >/MY gr grandfather/ >/Joseph Collins lived there 1881 census and perhaps 1891 also/ >/44 Middleton Rd New Grimsbury Warkworth/ >// >/I can't find it on my Ordanance maps/ >/I find Warkworth, near Adderbury./ >/any and all help clues etc appreciated/ >// >/Is New Grimsbury now Grimsbury and is it part of Banbury?/ >/north south east or west part of Banbury?/ >// >/Kathleen Collins Hone (now O'Flaherty)/ >/Niagara, Canada/ >// >~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >http://www.british-history.ac.uk/ >British History Online >------------------------------- >To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to >[email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without >the quotes in the subject and the body of the message _________________________________________________________________ Play your part in making history - Email Britain! http://www.emailbritain.co.uk/
