    3. Fantastic Bill, just great. Thank you so much for talking the trouble to look all of this up. So the two older boys were indeed Franklins...but they were noted as Spencer on later census and so likely their families have that name today. This I don't understand: 1 Oct 1862 " Thomas s " Mary Anne " > privately. present - mother, ? GRANT, Mary LOCK, Emma FRANKLIN. received > Whitsunday 1872 Are you saying that Thomas Spenceer son of Richard and Mary Ann was privately baptised in 1862...and that present at the baptism was a _____ Grant and the Aunt, Mary Lock, and that Emma Franklin was received on Whitsunday 1872? Mary Anne had a sister Emma Franklin born abt. 1818. Does "received" mean a late baptism or a confirmation or??? What a great help, thank you for all that..more than I expected to receive. 3. Yes, Mary Ann (the mother), ___ Grant, Mary Lock, & Emma Franklin were present at Thomas' private baptism. He must have been doing poorly when born. Thomas got better and was received into church on Whitsunday (whatever holiday or date this is) 1872. That is what is noted on his entry. 10 years later??? a year after his sister was baptised (not private, so must have been in church) This is the first time I've seen the names listed. The clerk must have wanted to know who witnessed the baptism for some reason.
