    3. Whitsun, or Whit Sunday is the 7th Sunday after Easter. Also known as Pentecost. When I was young the Monday after Whit Sunday was a public holiday but has been superceded by the fixed date "Spring Bank Holiday" in UK...well England at least...and in Ireland too, though the Irish holiday is a week later than the Engllish one.
