The middle name 'Wakefield' possibly seems to connect the Chipping Norton & Banbury CRIPS/CRIPPS line. In the St Mary Banbury regs is a Giles Wakefield CRIPPS marriage & he is witness to other marriages In the Chipping Norton regs is a Thomas Wakefield CRIPS being bapt so Joseph & Elizabeth (nee Jee) & a Giles CRIPS marriage So this marriage could be a good lead for you to chase further -------- 4/9/1742 Richard CRIPS & Elizabeth WAKEFIELD @ Broughton Poggs, Oxon Regards Angela Thank you very much Angela. I have been trying to work out the Cripps/Wakefield connection for the past two years and this may be it. I have the following information: John CRIPPS d.o.b. unknown married Patience Woodward d.o.b. 1784 married Charlbury in 1804. They had 2 children Joseph CRIPPS b. 1806 & Elizabeth CRIPPS b. 1806 (Chipping Norton). Joseph gave 2 of his children "Wakefield" as a middle name, as did future generations. I am trying to trace John Cripps' parents. I can find an IGI for Giles Wakefield Cripps married Hannah Faddery in Banbury in 1780 and I am wondering if these are John Cripps' parents. Richard CRIPS and Elizabeth Wakefield could be John Cripps' grandparents? Issy
