The name Hall goes back a long way in Bodicote as churchwardens see BHS vol 12 "Parish Accounts of Bodicote" Too many to mention. If you obtain a copy of "Faith Hope and Charity- The Story of Bodicote Church and Parish", by George C Walker you will find a photo of workers at Usher's Steam Drug Mills 1929. There is mention of Mr and Mrs R. B. Usher living in Bodicote Cottage, High Street. She was confined to a wheel chair and died in 1962. Perter Usher acquired the rhubarb business in 1811 on the death of Dr William Hayward who started it in 1777. I obtained a copy from Mr Walker 53 Oxford Road, Bodicote OX15 4AB Phone 0295 263322 in 1995. You might try to telephone. There have been articles in Cake and Cockhorse over the years about the rhubarb industry. There is an index to articles on the Banbury Council website although I've never used it. I may have tried, but with no success.
