My grandmother Norah May TUSTAIN was born 22 OCT 1872 in Aynho, her father was George TUSTAIN of Barford St Michael and I have his family back as far as 1768. . George TUSTAIN died AUG 1893 in The Red Lion Inn, Market Square, Deddington, and I am wondering if that is now the Deddington Arms Hotel? Her mother was Sarah TAYLOR and her family goes back to Mollington c. 1748. Her mother was Mary METCALF and I have traced her family through Farnborough to Fenny Compton and Radway c. 1741, and maybe Bishops Tachbrook c. 1676. Her mother was Sarah COLES from Ratley where I have her family c. 1700. Her mother was Mary GRAMMAR of Wardington, and her father was Joseph GRAMMAR from Middleton Cheney c. 1700. Mary's mother was Elizabeth ROGERS of Wardington and her family goes back to a marriage in Cropedy in 1673. Elizabeth's mother was Mary PRATT of Warkworth b. 1676 and this is where it gets difficult because her mother never gets a mention! She is even buried as "wife of William" and one of my hopes is that the Hearth Tax may mention her. However, is Warkworth in Northamtonshire or Oxfordshire for the Hearth Tax of 1660s? I have traced the PRATT family through wills back to 1500s in Wardington and if any of the above information is of any interest to anybody I am happy to share and compare. Cheers, Lesley, (Perth, Western Australia.)

Hello Bill, Good of you to get in touch. I had liked Joane as Mary's mother until I realised she would have been over 53 years old when Mary was born (bap. 19 NOV 1676) and I had thought that a bit old for those hard times, and then there is that over 10 year gap between the marriage and first born. Food for thought though. Thanks, Lesley. On Jan 8, 2008 7:52 AM, Bill Watson <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi Lesley, > > The OFHS Oxfordshire Marriage Index shows; > William PRATT marr.
