My interests in Banburyshire concern the GILBERT and the BERRY families. James GILBERT married Ann CLUES in Boddington, Jan 1759, producing two known sons, John (c1756) and James (c1759). All my known GILBERT ancestors came from John, nothing is known of any James successors. A provisional working theory is that James (father to John & James) was a grandson of John GILBERT, who is recorded in Boddington with four children, Elizabeth (c1686), Thomas (c1690), Alice (c1692), and John (c1698). Students may take notes at this point. Several miles away, William BERRY and wife Ann in Aston le Walls were raising John (c1761), Thomas (c1784), Hannah (c1786), William (c1789), Rebecca (c1791), Jane (c1793), Martha (c1795), and Harriet (1805). All my known ancestors can be blamed on Thomas, who married Hannah FARMER in Chipping Warden 1805, but subsequently lived in Appletree or Cropredy. Nothing is known of any BERRY fruit from his siblings. Any details about William and Ann would be most welcome. Conjunction came in Coventry, Aug 1865, when Thomas Henry GILBERT (b1846 Brinklow) married Ann BERRY (b1843 North Aston). Young Thomas, no fool he, married the boss's daughter in a basket and hamper business. -- Joe Confirmed virus free by Norton 2005 before transmission with Mozilla Thunderbird
