This may help with Thomas Ward Boss problem - Thank you all --- On Tue, 19/1/10, Carol Burgess <carolaburgess@googlemail.com> wrote: From: Carol Burgess <carolaburgess@googlemail.com> Subject: Re: Thomas Ward Boss and photo To: "M HOWES" <m.m.r.howes@btinternet.com> Date: Tuesday, 19 January, 2010, 16:22 Hi Yes, it is a bit of a mystery.  As you suggest maybe the information on the photo is incorrect.  I will tell you how I came to have the photo. A lady called Nina contacted me through Ancestry way back last year, saying that she had inherited a suitcase of old family photos and did the photo and details ring any bells.  At the time I only had "Uncle Tom" in my tree so could not help.  Her family all came from Neithrop and Wroxten.  Family names are Sconce/Goodman/Ward.  As the year went on between us we found out about Thomas Ward and his life in Banbury, and came to the conclusion that the photo was probably him because of the Atkins name although as you say the initials and the Mary bit do not fit.  Nina also wondered if Elizabeth Ward b.1800 was sister to Amelia Ward who married John Henry Boss, Elizabeth married a John sconce and they had a daughter also Elizabeth Sconce b1828, who would have been cousin to TWB, hence the note on the back of the photo grans cousin Tom and they are of a similar age.  If I've got this right Nina's mum was Isobel Longhurst b1922, her mum Elizabeth Scragg b1887, her mum Elizabeth Black b1859, her mum Elizabeth Sconce b1828 and lastly her mum Elizabeth Ward b.1800. So it would seem that the person writing on the back of the photo would be Elizabeth Scragg talking about her grandmother Elizabeth Sconce (Ward) cousin to Tom.  Hope this all makes sense, I am doubting it all myself now.  As you say keep plodding on, you never know what we might come up with. All the best Carol
