Thanks Angela and Betty I've seen the TOD= 28 lbs definition and was looking for 2nd opinions. I've also seen an 1837 Nottinghamshire farm account book that sells wool at 36/6d per tod. That would make it 1/3d a pound which seems a lot of money in 1837. But how much wool do you get from a (Banburyshire) sheep ? There was a 6d tax per TOD at one point in the 16th century so it must have been a fairly standard measure and I can see that 28lb would be a useful number. Jon Malings An even more snowy Wexford. _________________________________________________________________ Do you have a story that started on Hotmail?
