Hi I found "Following the drum: The lives of army wives and daughters past and present" by Annabel Venning. (published by Headline in 2005) helpful when researching life for a Grenadier Guard and his family in the mid nineteenth century. I don't know whether they accompanied him to the Crimea, but they were certainly in Canada with him during his 2 year service there. It may not answer your specific problems but it gives a fascinating insight. Best wishes Jill
