Hi All, Over the past couple of years I've been rather busy and consequently the Banburyshire website has been a bit neglected. This year I've received quite a few new pieces of work to add to it and I've become aware that it's in a bit of a mess! It's nearly 6 years old now and, in internet terms, that's old! There have been lots of alterations over this time; bits added here and there and bits taken away; new coding here and there; new sections added and some taken away. A couple of weeks ago I started to give it a spring clean and ended up giving it a complete "make-over". So .......... If you have submitted any material to the site can you check it for me: - do your pages have the new style? I hope there aren't any that I've missed - but with over 800 pages and 2500 files, one or two may have slipped through the net ;-) - are there any obvious mistakes? - do the links lead to the right pages? - is there a link in the relevant index page for your page/s? For example, if you have a page in the Family History section, go to the index page for that - http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~engcbanb/families/index.htm - and make sure your page/s are linked from there. Also can you check the following: - is your email address current? - is the information you've given up-to-date? Have you found out more since the page was originally created? - sometimes there isn't an email contact address (some of you wished to be anonymous). If you now want to add your address [I do try and make it less easy for web-bots to harvest for spam by adding brackets around the @ in all addresses], just let me know. The whole section on old photographs has been - temporarily - taken off line. I need to do a lot more work on it, but it should be up and running again in a couple of weeks. I don't have a search function on the website (it's on my list of "things to do") but you can use Google to search the site for your name if you can't remember what's there :-) Here's how: For example - put this into your search bar: angela site:http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~engcbanb/ It will return pages that mention Angela (and there are a lot!) just from the Banburyshire website. The search isn't case sensitive. If you have sent me material recently, it will be added soon. Rosemary I did forward to you several more transcribed details of Manorial Court records but I have not as yet seen these appear on the page, did you receive them or is it down to available space? I did notice yesterday when checking the site that you had some of the surname details out of sequence in the G - H area I think it was. Other than that I think the new site and features is a vast improvement on what it used to be, you are doing a fantastic job, I certainly appreciate the site as I am sure many others do.
