    3. That sounds wonderful. How exciting to see something of this magnitude going back to a better time instead of horrible new buildings popping up everywhere. Aynho is/was a beautiful little village, it now seems that as much as possible is going to be done to restore it. Thank you for the very interesting update. Jill. Dawn & Mike Griffis <[email protected]> wrote: Hello All, Because of the interest in these papers to the extent several donated money towards preventing them going to the States, I thought you might like an update. First because of donations & lottery fund they were saved to remain in Northamptonshire, you probably knew that; but I have some additional information that I was given permission to share with you all. Aynhoe Park House was recently bought by a James Perkins, he is turning it back to how it was with complete renovations inside & out, and to be his private home. He has bought back the grounds that haven't been developed called Rylands; there is planning to put back the cricket pitch, that was there in the 30's, and additionally to build a museum. In the museum he plans to have many specimens related to Aynhoe and surrounding area. Plus he has met several times with the Northants archival people to arrange the rotation of the Cartwright papers into the museum. So far response for this has been extremely positive, and looks like it will take place. If necessary at first he will use part of the Park House as part of the museum. He has been travelling world wide buying stuff to have a considerable display at the museum - not just Aynhoe coverage. He has bought entire museums for specimens. He has also bought the Cartwright Arms (local pub), over the past 40 + years it has been bastardised, he has called in British Heritage to turn it back to how it was originally- a village pub. He will have a restaurant but it will sell typical pub fare at reasonable prices and decent sized servings. I have seen what he has done so far in the Park House it is a credit to him. By Sept he believes he will have enough done to open it up for the villagers to see for themselves, of course at no charge. He is a very personable and unpretentious young man about 40 years old. He wants to be able to go to the pub for a drink, and have a meal of one of his favourites 'bangers & mash'. He has met with some of the villagers at the annual village meeting, and he was very well received by all there, including old villagers and new transplants. Which says a lot, if you know Aynhoe as I do. I will keep you posted on the progress of the museum etc as I hear it. 3. It's my Bonham family again. I have discovered one of the Bonham descendants went to Salt Lake City and he went forth and multiplied. The result of this are a number of family trees on Ancestry and information on Familysearch. Now I am quiet happy to look at what they say about the family further back, but I do like to check things myself. This concerns the Heartwell family. Alice Heartwell married Samuel Bonham. I have looked on the Hugh Wallis site and I have confirmed the date given for Alice's baptism, 18/7/1747 in Banbury. I then looked to check her parent's marriage. They were Thomas Heartwell and Elizabeth Stanley. Now looking at the various family trees there are two different dates given for this marriage 9/10/1746 and 19/10/1746 again the marriage took place in Banbury. Looking again on the Hugh Wallis site I find the date given as 19/10/1745. So I have three different dates for the marriage. Does anyone have access to Banbury parish records so that I can get the correct date? A long message but every step with the Bonham's is hard work, and thank you in advance for your help.

    3. Hi Bill, Thank you for the info. on John Job, I have been hunting high and low for him. He married Harriett Fuller in Boxley in Kent on 22 Aug 1859 and had three children and then married Alice in Banbury in 1870 and had another eight children.I knew his father was James but that was as far as I could get. I had no idea he came from Bletchingdon. It is wonderful to have gone back another two generations! Best wishes Philippa

    2. Bill Watson
    3. Hi Philippa, If you are looking for John Job GARDINERs bapt. The census's say he was born in Oxford. In the 3rd Oxford CD; OFHS OX St. Mary Magdalen; 3 Mar 1830 GARDINER John Job s James & Mary, Walton Place, mason 1861 Census shows James as widower 61 living with daughter, Ann 19. He was born in Bletchingdon. 1841 says Mary was not born in county. OFHS Betchingdon PR's; 29 Jul 1798 GARDINER James s John & Anne I couldn't find John Job in 1841 or 61 ( I don't have this part of 1851 to check where Mary was born or if John Job was there) 1871 shows John Job married to Alice Ann and children from 1st marr. They were born in Maidstone, Kent. (The oldest, Sarah A. was listed as 11 yrs.) So, they would be there in 1861 with his 1st wife. 3. Phillipa I can find her patents marriage in Wardington, but not her baptism. Thats if you are on the right track. It is William Bloxham age 23, labourer of Chacombe son of Samuel calf dealer, to Mary Ann Butler age 19 of Wardington daughter of Richard labourer, date of marriage 14/4/1842. There is a baptism in 1844 but it's Louisa daughter of William and Hannah. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Philippa" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, May 07, 2007 4:52 PM Subject: [BAN] Alice A. I am not at home at the moment, but Nicholls is my mothers maiden name, and I have records from Swalciffe going back to about 1650. The names you mention are part of my family line.
