Thanks for that. All suggestions gratefully received. Fingers crossed that one of them is a builder! I shall have to try and find a way of seeing the Parish Registers to check them all out. Hi Rosemary, Thanks for checking out the Bicester, Charlton-on-Otmoor & Bucknell records for me. I have a suspicion this is going to remain a brickwall for a long time to come. The problem is there are so many Gardner's of various spellings around. Hi Philippa, I've checked Bicester transcript (OFHS) and the only Robert GARDNER was baptised in 1797. I also had a look at the Bicester Independent & Methodist Chapels, Charlton-on-Otmoor & Bucknell - no Robert. Hazel, Do you have the baptisms of his children? If not and if you would like them, let me know. Further to Len's info. on the marriage, Thomas was shown as a Servant, a bachelor, and of the parish. Mary made her mark and the witness to the marriage was a Mary? BEAL. Thomas was buried at Banbury 15 August 1834, Neithrop, aged 47 which makes his birth date c1787. The first WOODWARD baptism at St Mary, Banbury is that of a George, son Richard, Weaver & Mary on 7 September 1792. Richard was buried 4 April 1805, weaver, pauper and he & Mary seem to be the only WOODWARD family having children baptised at Banbury prior to Thomas & Mary so could well be connected in some way. Richard was married at St Mary, Banbury on 24 July 1791, plushweaver, b. to Mary MAKEPEACE, sp. Mary made her mark and they were both described as of the parish, so no clues there. The witness was John SMALLBONE. Sorry not to have been of more help. Hi Rosemary, A lovely celebration of Christmas, due to your hours of hard work! Also thankyou very much for the splendid job you have made of my recent family contributions. Your website is a place of interest and warm fuzzies, as well as lots of information. I can recommend it to anyone who feels off-colour or needs a lift ito their spirits! It will perform this task very well. Well done, Rosemary! Regards, Muriel.
Now come on Rosemary, I bet you have some interesting stories too. Mine started way younger than you are now, as did everyone else. I can believe you don't have time, but sometime when you can't sleep, just start writing, with all your skills it will be great!!!
