Maureen, Further to what Rosemary has found out, there is a Cornelius SAVORY and wife Elizabeth who had two children in Kidlington 1826 & 1827 and then disappeared from Kidlington transcripts. A Cornelius SAVORY seems to reappear in the 1861 census of Camberwell, Surrey with wife Lucy and brother Simeon and both Cornelius and brother Simeon were born in Hampton Poyle 1802 and 1804 respectively. Neither John nor Mary SAVORY were buried in Kidlington and John does not appear to have been baptised there. There is a John SAVORY with wife Mary, neither born in the county, in the 1841 census of Christ Church, Spitalfields, Middlesex. He is described as aged 55, a Watchman and Mary, aged 55, a ? Spinner. There is a Frances SAVORY, aged 5 with them at Canterbury Court (HO107/710/2, folio 10, page 11) - could he be connected? I can't find Cornelius on any census prior to 1861, but Simeon (Simon) SAVORY is in the 1851 census of St Giles, Camberwell, aged 47, Labourer with wife Sarah, aged 46, a Silk Stocking Grafter, born Westminster, Middlesex. Hope this helps further. I'm looking for a marriage between John Savory and Mary ? They were witnesses to my 2 x gt. grandfather at their marriage at Kidlington, Oxford in 1811: Richard Middleton and Elizabeth. There is a John Savory in Witney Workhouse age 81 in the 1881 census and it could be that this is the same John. I know there have been Savorys in Oxford and I think in Warwickshire in the 1800s. I would like to find out if there was a link between them. I would like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and all good wishes for 2008 and successful family hunting. Maureen Milton Keynes.

From December's Federation of Family History Societies Ezine - [email protected] All change at the Genealogical Society of Utah The Genealogical Society of Utah (GSU) began microfilming British records in 1945, including civil registration indexes, census records, church records, probate records and other records useful for understanding and linking families. Nearly every major record office in the United Kingdom and Ireland has been assisted by the GSU in preserving and making records more accessible. The GSU's services are now expanded and improved, but will continue under a new name - FamilySearch Records Access. FamilySearch is working hard to convert its millions of microfilms to digital formats and replacing its hundreds of film cameras with digital versions, to increase accessibility via the Internet. Additionally over one hundred thousand volunteer indexers from all over the globe are logging on to FamilySearchIndexing.org to index these records. The indexes are being linked to images of the original documents and are available online at www.FamilySearch.org, the record custodian's, or an affiliate's site. The Genealogical Society of Utah (GSU) doing business as FamilySearch is a non-profit organization sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. FamilySearch maintains the world's largest repository of genealogical resources and can be accessed at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah via any of its 4,500 family history centres worldwide or online through www.FamilySearch.org. Dear Listers Hope to find the death/burial of Elizabeth TUCKWELL between February 1836 and September 1838. Elizabeth COUNCER married John TUCKWELL on 17 Nov 1818 at Banbury and they had 12 children, one we know was baptised in Banbury and then the others in Southrop and Eastleach Turville Gloucestershire. The last child of the 12 was born in February 1836, and John TUCKWELL married again in the December Quarter 1838 in Bath. A Gloucester Lister has kindly checked the Southrop and Eastleach Turville and Eastleach Martin burials and Elizabeth TUCKWELL cannot be found there in this time-frame. I wonder please if someone on this Banbury list may be able to help. Hope to hear Many thanks Jennifer Bantow Geelong Australia

Let me know if I can help further in any way and good luck. Janet
Janet, Thanks for your interesting research. I have details of 5 children born to Thomas WOODWARD 1787 AND Mary Ann BUSBY 1787. They are Ann abt 1807, William qbt 1809, Esther abt 1812, Joseph abt 1813 and Thomas, my direct line born abt 1816. Living a bit of a distance from Oxfordshire, I haven't (yet) managed to visit the local RO and haven't yet peeled back the next layer. That is trying to find parents of Thomas WOODWARD, so I can't say, yet whether George or Richard are mine. If not and if you would like them, let me know. Further to Len's info. on the marriage, Thomas was shown as a Servant, a bachelor, and of the parish. Mary made her mark and the witness to the marriage was a Mary? BEAL. Thomas was buried at Banbury 15 August 1834, Neithrop, aged 47 which makes his birth date c1787. The first WOODWARD baptism at St Mary, Banbury is that of a George, son Richard, Weaver & Mary on 7 September 1792. Richard was buried 4 April 1805, weaver, pauper and he & Mary seem to be the only WOODWARD family having children baptised at Banbury prior to Thomas & Mary so could well be connected in some way. Richard was married at St Mary, Banbury on 24 July 1791, plushweaver, b. to Mary MAKEPEACE, sp. Mary made her mark and they were both described as of the parish, so no clues there. The witness was John SMALLBONE. Sorry not to have been of more help.
