Hello to all, I would like to ask if anyone can help trace William Reynolds. He married Grace Margaret Meades in 1793 in Banbury (possibly Bloxham). I know from previous help (Thankyou!!) that he had at least 3 children (John 1796, Sarah 1803 and Jehoiada 1805) who all appear in the records of Protestant Dissenters or Presbyterian, Bloxham & Milton, Oxford. Does anyone know when William and Margaret were born, who they're parents/siblings were and if they have any other children?? A lot to ask I know but any further info much appreciated. Thanks, Emma.
Hi Jon To answer your particular question ------------ Baptism Register of Banbury Part Three 1723 - 1812 Volume 16 of the books published by Banbury Historical Society. Books provided by Jeremy Gibson, keen for the info to be shared freely! Other info I've given out in the past has in part come from personally visiting a 'Banburyshire' church/chapel, BHS books, OFHS cd's. OFHS CD BAN01 pre 1837 data has been copied by OFHS from the registers Banbury Historical Society transcribed. Should be the same info - unless another mistake in copying!? Angela I've been in touch with Emma re the Bloxham Presbyterian christenings as I'm v. confident that this is the right family. On the 1841 census John has a son Jeheida as well as children William and Margaret. His occupation is "shoemaker, as is (his father) William's in the details you providied about his marriage. Where do you get your Bloxham presbyterian info ? The OFHS CD that I have shows the 11/11/1796 christening as JOHN REYNOLDS, not JEHU as you have. regards Jon Mallings County Wexford, Ireland > From: angela.allen72@btinternet.com > To: eng-banbury-area@rootsweb.com > Date: Mon, 13 Jul 2009 21:26:39 +0100 > Subject: [BAN] Fw: John Reynolds etc c1799 > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "ANGELA ALLEN" <angela.allen72@btinternet.com> > To: <eng-banbury-area@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Monday, July 13, 2009 8:04 PM > Subject: John Reynolds etc c1799 > > > > Hi Emma > > > > I agree with Bill & Jon, no sign of him being bapt in Banbury under > > Reynolds or Reynard > > in church - how about chapel? > > > > Don't know if you'll think this is worth chasing up, several Banbury > > families attended .... > > > > Bloxham & Milton Presbyterian Chapel Baptisms have > > > > 11/11/1796 Jehu so William & Grace Margaret REYNOLDS of Banbury > > > > 9/8/1803? Thanks Angela, I feel a new stray baptisms index will be forthcoming! A reminder to Banbury area reseachers that there are more than 8,000 marriages on line of Northants folk that married in other counties. Contributions are welcomed, but to avoid duplications please look to see if your marriage(s) are already included before you send them to me or Alan. On the 1851 census he is recorded as being born in Banbury, however I have been unable to find any further info except that he married Elizabeth Lawrence in Finsbury, London and had 9 children all born in Bethnal Green. Forwarded from Anna Rufer: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello all, The recent update of the freeREG database took the Northamptonshire total number of records past the 400,000 mark. For details of the Northamptonshire records currently available go to http://www.freereg.org.uk/parishes/nth.shtml Over the past 4 weeks we have added a further 16 423 records to the database, bringing our total to 413 796 from 138 different churches & chapels. This is thanks to a steadily growing team of wonderful, dedicated contributors. Additional volunteers, or donations of existing transcripts are always very welcome! No special expertise is required.... just your time. For those who are not aware of this project, the objective of freeREG is to provide FREE internet searches of baptism, marriage, and burial records, that have been transcribed from parish and non-conformist registers of the U.K. It is the newest cousin to freeBMD & freeCEN, and coverage is still quite limited, but with our numbers steadily increasing it is becoming a useful finding aid. More information can be found at www.freeREG.org.uk Regards, Anna Rufer Tirau, New Zealand Northamptonshire Coordinator, FreeREG project

Hi Emma *it could* but depends on the who gave the information as to its validity The further away from the place of birth, the smaller places would be unheard of so the next larger place might be given in place of it Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > Can anyone tell me if Priors Marston and Avon Dassett would have come > under > Banbury as a place of birth on the census?
