Here's what the book showed: 3 Ellis brothers came into TN from NC around 1820. They were: Rev. John Ellis, Joshua Ellis, and Lewis Ellis. REV. JOHN ELLIS m. FRANCES or NANCY BELL (dau. of Ben Bell and Hettie Foot). One of REV. JOHN AND NANCY (BELL) ELLIS'S daughters married a Mr. Pentacost, and another, HALLEY FRANCES ELLIS, married THOMAS J. MCCLENDON (my line). JOSHUA ELLIS... LEWIS ELLIS m NANCY or FRANCES BELL (dau. of Ben Bell and Hettie Foot). The 1850 TN census listes LEWIS ELLIS (60yrs) with wife NANCY. Would anyone have any info on the lineage of JOHN, JOSHUA, and LEWIS ELLIS from NC? God bless!!! Brant
