    1. [ELLIS-L] Re: William Ellis & Elizabeth Allin
    2. Hi everyone, To be as brief as possible. I am researching the surname Ellis. My 3rd great garandparents were Wiiliam Ellis, born 1797 in N.C. (unknown town) & Elizabeth Allin, born 1803 in Tenn or N.C. They had 10 children, I know of 9. Their 1st child was John Ellis b. abt 1881-82. (John Cumberland?) Robert James Ellis b. 1/1833 died 1905 in Cross Co. Arkansas Thomas Ellis b. about 1836 Nancy Ellis b. abt 1838 Lucy Ellis b. 1839 married George Smith in 1859 St Francis Co Ar. William Ellis b. abt 1841>May be my great Great Grandfather, no documents George Ellis b. abt 1843 James Ellis b. abt 1844 Yancy b. 4/1845 died ? Poinsett Co. Ar. This information was taken from Goodspeeds 1890 Arkansas. My dilema is that I am not sure if Christopher Ellis & Nancy Callahan are the parents of William Ellis. I'm also not sure if their 1st child, John, is really John Cumberland Ellis. He moved to Indiana in 1849 & died in 1919. Married Harriet Quick (in Indiana) & had 12 children. His obituary reads "Uncle John's grandfather was Christopher Ellis, a native of London England who served as a soldier in North Carolina in the Revolution. His wife, Nancy Callahan, she being the mother of ten children, six daughters and 4 sons". The obituary does not mention John's parents. So, does anyone have any information that could confirm or, deny this. I appreciate anything you can do for me and, look forward to your response. If you're researching this family get in touch. I have a lot that I would share. Sincerely, Dallas Harold Ellis
