Thanks, Nancy Orange, MA is in the northern middle part of the state, and my Nathan Ellis family moved from their to Brattleboro, VT, which is just north of Orange. The reason I thought their origin was in the Mendon area is the intermarriages with some families in that area: the Thayers, Cheneys and Whitneys. I'm hoping to get a little more information from a family member soon that might clarify. Thanks!
