Her surname may be either ELLIS or STONE. Sarah E. STONE is 21 years old and living alone in LeSieur Twp., New Madrid, MO in the 1880 census. Napoleon Bonaparte LeSIEUR and his first wife (also named Sarah) are living a few houses away. We couldn't find any STONE families in the census around New Madrid Co., MO, but we did find some ELLIS families there. Sarah E. STONE LeSIEUR was widowed about 1899 and later married James STUBBLEFIELD in New Madrid Co., MO. She died in January, 1946 in Portageville, New Madrid Co., MO. We tried to get her death certificate from the state, but they sent one for someone else instead. We tried the funeral home, but they didn't have any records for the time of her death.
