Darrell---What county was your John Ellis in? I also have a John Ellis in TN at about that time, but he was John G. Ellis, who went on to MO. His father was William Ellis and his mother was Phoebe Lacy. I believe the censuses always begin in January of the years ending in 0, but I could be wrong. The John Ellis you see listed may have been mine. His parents had been married in Grainger County, and may also have lived in McMinn.
