Greetings all- I just joined this list, and would like to get some input if you would be so kind... I have been searching for the ancestry of Mildred Ellis, who married William White in Hanover Co., VA in 1799. I have found a couple of newspaper announcements for the marriage, but neither mentions Mildred's parentage. I had thought that Mildred was born in Hanover Co., and the only Ellis connection I could find in the previous generation was a John Ellis, who patented land near the White family in 1756. I recently found a Spotsylavania document referring to the orphans of Hezekiah Ellis, including a daughter Mildred. Since Hezekiah died in ~1771, this Mildred would be slightly older than I expected "my" Mildred to be (since her husband was born in 1773), but it doesn't seem impossible that they may be the same. Am I reaching? Does anyone have any information on either the Mildred in Spotsylvania or the Mildred in Hanover? Any connections between the Ellis families in these two counties? Were there many disparate Ellis families in colonial Virginia? Thanks all, for your time! Jen White
