    3. I add my voice to the warning and add the clarification, the <username> field will be *someone you know*! The reason for this is that the melissa Virus propagates via people's address books in their email programs. Outlook is the one most seriously affected. the virus gets into Outlook, then (if opened) goes to Word or Office 2000 and disables security settings and password protections, making your entire system mor4e ulnerable to attack at a later date. This isn't another hoax message, I fear, I've been checking all over the Net and it's "the Big One", in the words of one antivirus programmer. it shut down Microsoft over the weekend! Since we, on mailing lists *often* have our addressbooks full of other listmembers, this makes us especially vulnerable. Don't open an attachment, even from a friend, until it's checked out.
