Hi. We may have communicated in the past, as I am also seeking MOFFETT and ELLIS ancestors. They are, unfortunately, unrelated even though they are both lines in my father's DOUGHTY line. ------------MY ELLIS FAMILY--- I have almost no information on this family. DeBerry bible of William Ellis DeBerry, born 1809 in NC, a son of Lemuel DeBerry and Delphia ELLIS, states only that his mother, DELPHIA, was a daughter WILLIAM ELLIS and Elizabeth STANTON, with no dates nor locations. It is believed that William Ellis of Pitt Co NC served in Capt John Hodges' Co. Vol. under Col. Benj. Seawell of NC Regt of Militia, as shown in Certificate from the War Dept filed with an application for membership in the DAR in 1915 [application was approved and the applicant admitted to membership as Nat. No. 103110]. These papers state that WILLIAM ELLIS, born in Virginia, 1755; died after 1812 in North Carolina [date not given], to ELIZABETH STANTON, also born 1755 Va; died NC. Only one child is mentioned, DELPHIA ELLIS, who married Lemuel deBERRY. I have none of the documents mentioned above, and have not been able to locate additional information on this WILLIAM and ELIZABETH [STANTON] ELLIS. I might mention that Lemuel deBERRY was of Pitt County, NC also, which lends support to William Ellis also being of Pitt Co. Their were so many having the name "William Ellis" in that place and that time, it has been impossible to lay claim to any one of them as my own. -----------MY MOFFETTS I am seeking the parents and siblings of JOHN MOFFETT, born [probably] northern Ireland about 1706. He married Mary Christian, d/o Gilbert and Margaret Richardson Christian. John died in Augusta Co. Va. c1746. Children of John MOFFETT & Mary CHRISTIAN, all believed born Augusta County, Va: i. Margaret, b. bef 1730 ii. Catharine b. c1732 iii. George b. c1735 iv. Mary b. c1736 v. William b. c1739 vi.
