He was born in Eckington, Derbyshire, England on October 20, 1832, and died in 1863, buried in Dayton, Green county, Wisconsin. He was the son of Mark ELLIS (1803-1878) and Mary WATTS (1804-1870), and had the following siblings : Olive ELLIS (1828-1876) m. Joseph JACKSON John ELLIS (1830-1886) m. Elizabeth GILL & Annie GILL Arthur ELLIS (1835-1872) (Civil War soldier) Henry ELLIS (1837- ?) Thomas ELLIS (ABT 1839 - ?) Elizabeth ELLIS (1841-1900) m. Forrester HAVENS George F. ELLIS (1843 - ?) m. Flora W. FITTS Mary Ann ELLIS (1846 - ?) m. Edwin T. JORDAN These people lived in Green county in southern Wisconsin and in Dane and Rock counties, and in Fillmore county Minnesota, and came from Derbyshire England in the summer of 1850. I see many inquiries into ELLIS families of the south, however I am interested in anything about the ELLIS families that came from England in the 1800's and settled in Wisconsin and Minnesota. -- ...................................................... :<=*=> Lane R.
