I have been trying to locate information on my Ellis family, who I know was in Maryland and then ended up in Iredell Co., NC, but it's been so hard finding a whole lot on them. So, I thought I would try and go off of some of my Samuel Ellis's children to see if any information found on them would take me back to him, maybe helping me find where they all came from. While browsing the net I found some stuff on a Solomon Ellis and his wife, but it was in Georgia. He may very well have gone there but I would like to know if anyone can identify the Solomon from the exerpts below, copied from "Early Georgia Pioneers". The Solomon Ellis's I have in my family file are Samuel Ellis's son Solomon and grandson Solomon Jr. I'm hoping maybe someone can help identify the people mentioned in the transactions below and maybe tell me if any of them may have been connected to my Ellis family. >From the 1776 Colonial Census of Maryland-Sugar Land Hundred Dist., Frederick Co., MD (living in same area as his father) Solomon was a brother to my g-g-g-g grandfather Joshua Ellis and Ann (poss Amy Tomlinson). Can someone explain to me what they mean here when they say "Margaret relinquished dower?" Does this mean that something here belonged to her Early Georgia Pioneers Vol9 by M. H.
