I am researching Ellis ancestors who settled in Canada. John Ellis was born in Nova Scotia around 1817. I do not know who he married or when but he had 5 children --Hannah, Mary, Scott, Tom and Rupert. He came west to Manitoba with Scott and Rupert in 1881 to homestead in the Ellice Municipality. Tom may have settled in North Dakota. John died in Manitoba ?1896. Rupert married Henrietta Gwyer in 1890 and had 7 children -- Lucy, Bill, Scott, Dorothy, Joseph, Owen, and Ruth. I am interested in finding out where in Nova Scotia John came from as well as who his wife and parents were. I believe his ancestors came from Ireland, possibly County Cork. Does anyone have any information about Ellises in Nova Scotia? Thank you, Carolyn
