Ireland, had these children that went to Dundas Co., Ontario, Canada in the early to mid 1800's, (mostly the 1840's)- James Leslie, b.1806 John, b.1806 ? Anita, My ancestor James Ellis (born about 1819) was married in Glencolumbkille Parish, Donegal Co. Ireland. The marriage register says his residence at time of marriage was Strade. Fathers name John. James was married in 1846 and immigrated to New York about 1849, eventually settling in McDonough Co. Illinois. Family folklore says that James Ellis studied to be a Presbyterian minister. Also on the marriage register it lists his fathers occupation as parish clerk. The names and the area seem too similar to not take a second look. What other information might you have. Do you have the mothers name because their was a Mary Jane buried in the cemetery in Donegal (c.1792 - 1882).
