Hi Listers has anyone got access to trade directories for the London area in the 1850's? My gggrandfather, William Barnett Ellis was living at 8 Silk Street, St Giles, Cripplegate. His occupation is given variously as boot maker or boot closer. I am keen to know if this was a commercial premises or not. Likewise, on the 1881 census, he is living at 39 Tabernacle Walk, London, still as a boot closer. Does anyone have access to any 1880's Directories for London?
