I have been a subscriber for many months now and very rarely see ANYTHING from the UK. My ELLIS people were from LONDON, but I have recently discovered that they originated in Cambridgeshire! JAMES ELLIS m. MARIA HABLET at St Botolphs without Aldersgate, London in 1861. From the 1881 census, James and Maria were both born in Cambridgeshire around 1841 and 1843/4 respectively. That is the furthest back I have got so far, so unfortunately cannot help Sheila German with the question she posted, however, if/when I establish JAMES ELLIS's fathers name and date of birth we could both be lucky!!!!
