Dear ELLIS researches: Who has done research in England on their ELLIS line? Just found out that the Arthur ELLIS and his wife that I am looking for were born in England (before 1820) from the 1892 New York State Census, where James states that his parents were both born in England, however it does not say where! Any suggestions? My previous posting: I am looking for information on the father of James Arthur ELLIS who was born 3 Jun 1839 Fleming, Cayuga Co., NY. Jame's father was Arthur and do not have a name for the mother. James married Martha Sophia ROBERTSON and lived in Canandaigua, Ontario County, NY from about 1850-1923. He was a gunsmith, he became an apprentice when 14 years old. We have no other information such as siblings or anything just the name of his father from James' death certificate. The mother must have died early, since James' son did not know his own grandmothers name. Thanks, Sheila German
